All the medical staff of the department of cardiology and cardiac surgery at "La Clinique du Levant" graduated from Western Europe and North America and includes 3 adult cardio-vascular surgeons, 3 anesthesiologists, 10 interventional cardiologists, 3 conventional cardiologists, and 40 highly trained nurses and respiratory therapists.
Directed by Dr Georges Tedy, the department of cardiology and cardiac surgery at la "Clinique du Levant" is one of the most active centers of cardiology in Lebanon taking in charge more than 1400 patients a year. Its cardiac surgery unit performs 350 adult open heart procedures, and 100 peripheral vascular operations a year. The interventional cardiology unit performs 1200 procedures a year, including 300 coronary angioplasty (PTCA).
In February 2008, the team of cardiac surgery accomplished the first successful cardiac transplantation at la "Clinique du Levant' and is currently a reference center for heart transplantation in Lebanon with more than 15 heart transplanted patients followed regularly.
